carnivore!

my first time at Carnivore, Vivocity, with Tams! it's a sorta buffet restaurant, with basically nothing but meat hahaha. so you just sit there with an empty place, and the staff will go around holding roasted spits of meat varieties and you can decide which ones you want to have and which ones to say no to! though some of them are rather persuasive so you'd probably end up

getting more than your share's worth of meat.

the chicken heart isn't half bad, but the idea of roasted chicken hearts on a spit is just... kind of gross :/ imagine that's like 10 dead chicken's hearts there.

it's not very cheap too, cost us almost $50 per head for the dinner, but it's cheaper during lunch times! like maybe only $30 plus dollars? so if you're a huge meat eater, this would be an awesome place to buffet at.

ANYWAYS.

i feel like a cat though. so feline looking the big brown eyes. meoww.

mad love for the flowy chiffon outer layer and yellow/white stripes!!!

very happy for kristine that the dress sold so well! not surprising cos the design is really unique and pretty. but surprisingly yellow is the least popular? i set my eyes on getting the yellow piece when i saw the preview! :S

Hada Labo product review!

i am really loving these two Hada Labo products! most of you should already have heard of them. it's a best-selling brand from Japan that has been brought in recently by Watsons. Their top selling product Super Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Lotion apparently sells at the rate of 1 bottle every 4 seconds in Japan!

that is super amazing la.

i really love the texture of the lotion. it's light weight and absorbs to a non-sticky and dewy feeling! my skin definitely feels alot more hydrated after using it regularly for the past week. you can literally pat your cheek and feel it going boing boing. LOL. their tag line is "One Drop Locks Up An Ocean" and it is really true to its description. you just need 2 drops per application and it's enough to hydrate and mosturise your entire face! (unless your face very big la. but my face is quite small.)

new blog!

welcome to the new blog!!!

it's not new new per se cos i ported all the old entries (150 entries in total! in about 1 year, which means i blog once every 2-3 days for an entire year D:) but i did up a new layout with my own graphics and illustrations ^^

am shifting over to blogspot because although LJ is great, it lacks so many customisable features that blogspot has :/ THUS. the move! but i'd still be cross-posting somewhat, whenever i update here, i'll put a link from the LJ to here :) so for those peeps still following my LJ acct, you'll still know when i've updated and all. not that anyone would be stalking me. but stillll. the LJ archives will still be there too :)

soo yea, that's what i've been busy with the past week, (and also no new launch on TVD last week because i only managed to go to the studio again to finish shooting the collection yesterday) and lastly TVD is going to be joining JIPABAN as a retailer too, in the following week! whee! ok la i know we're abit slow, but better late than never right?? popped by nuffnang/jipaban office a few days ago and the guys/girls there were reaaaally sweet and nice. double yay :)

peektures from the studio shoot: i think shalene and fish were awesomeee in the studio!!! much better than me for sure. minimal photoshop time! besttt.

and some of you must be wondering, WHO IS MY PHOTOGRAPHER.

it's none other than SK of odorikoya fame, who is now extending her services of photographer/post-imager/designer to blogshops out there! and, i think SK is a REALLY good photographer. she really knows how to bring out the best in every model!!! and she did a fantastic job for us :D :D :D :D anyway, during the shoot, this SK kept on going "老闆, shoot finish this item already, can?" WTF until all my models start going "老闆" to me also. and i said "please stop calling me 老闆 leh, if not i have to pay all of you more already -.-"

before you start thinking that it's my birthday,

no it isn't, but it was YZ's birthday yesterday, so we had a quiet birthday dinner together :)

oh, no pictures of cakes or candles cos i dropped by his workplace the night before to surprise him with his cake already :) hehehe.

back to the pictures!!!!

what we ordered for starter and mains: the thai crispy beef salad (cant remember the exact name) was really nice and tangy, but the skinny pizza was a disappointment cos i read so many raves on it and we didnt really like it plus the diced chicken on it was very dry and unsavoury :( lobster linguine was awesome though, in black pepper sauce and very tasty, with a generous portion too!

just some random pictures. we made reservations for dinner actually but because we were late, they gave our indoor dining seat away and we ended up outside which was quite nice but really dark :/ which is terrible for picture taking. and the restaurant was fully booked D: never quite realised how popular dempsey is for dining, but the entire dempsey road was just crowded with people! so service was rather slow. i made the mistake of asking them to serve the starter followed by mains, and we waited 20-30 mins after the salad for our food to arrive :(

okok this isnt much of a "how-to". hahaha. and i'm sorry it's so ugly, it looked so much better on the site i got the recipe from! tastes pretty yummy though, like butter cake with a tinge of hazelnut and chocolate. you can get the original recipe from here! If my mom eats it, it means it passes the "edible" test. cos she's always saying that the stuff i bake is too sweet/not nice. so yeaaa. whatever. there's only 1/3 left! it tastes great with chocolate sauce drizzled over and served warm. all i need is some ice cream.


obviously i've been rather lazy lately, as you can tell from the above two outfits. the only thing that "changed" is my top. still very much a fan of high-waisted shorts because for some reason they look just abit more chic than regular denim shorts. and i know i keep on wearing TVD stuff, but isn't it normal? considering half the clothes i have lying around at home are TVD stuff. and i must admit i've been shopping less as compared to previously.. which isnt necessarily a bad thing, if you ask me. oh and i am still very much loving the sunburst necklace and am wearing it practically all the time. wore it today too with the BC ruffled top and denim shorts! mad love.

needless to say, the queue for entrance was so long, it took me almost three hours to get in. plus my TBs didnt wait for me and went in before i arrived! :((( and you wouldnt believe it, but i actually left empty-handed! D: D: D: okay actually i'd intended to buy a couple of items, but the cashier queue scared me off. it snaked all the way from the entrance of the place, allll the way to the exit. so yes. after queuing for hours and having shoved my way through the very sardine-packed place, i was too exhausted and gave up and left without getting anything.

oh well :(

i was actually born with congenital ptosis in one eye, and went for an op when i was 8 to operate on my eye.

Ptosis is a medical term for drooping of the upper eyelids. Ptosis present at birth is called congenital ptosis. In mild cases of ptosis, the lid droops only slightly. In moderate to severe cases, the lid may partially or completely cover the pupil.

for my case, it was pretty bad, you can see in the younger pictures of me that i had "大小眼“, and i used to get pretty sensitive over it. :( i think my childhood was pretty traumatising, cos in addition to having a weird eye, i speak with a lisp (and still do, which i am still rather sensitive over) AND i was fat. walao. such a sad kid.

i used to cover my defected eye and look at myself in the mirror and feel really sad. i think i even cut up this picture (apparently there was another copy lying around) because i felt like i was such a freak.

and i especially hated meeting and talking to new people. partially because of my lisp (i cant say S or Z or C or consonants that require you to make a hissing sound with your tongue very well) and people never understood what i meant. and little kids are the most innocently and painfully honestly. sometimes my new classmates would ask "why you talk so funny one?" and i immediately felt like a freak (again) and obviously i couldn't answer that question either because i can't help the way i speak, and i didnt know why i couldnt speak like a normal person either.

so in order to disguise my lisp, when i was supposed to answer "yes", i would say "yea",
if people asked what my name was, i wouldnt say "my name IS yina", i'd say "i'm yina"

had classmates who thought they were very funny too and imitated the way i spoke, and laughed at me.

had classmates calling me "fat and ugly".

and in response to all the negativity, i think i just became extremely guarded and fierce so that i wouldn't get bullied by my peers. i used to chase boys down in primary school and hit them so hard they cried. my way of protecting myself was to be nothing short of hostile, stoic and untrusting.

which also explains my celibate past because i was so afraid of getting hurt.

anyway.

dont know what's with the grandmother story.

but actually i just feel lucky that i didnt have it worse, and i still grew up as a fairly healthy and balanced person. hahahahaha.

though i'm still wary of meeting new people.
and i still dont dare to say "my name is yina"

but at least i know that people around me who care enough to stay around will accept me for who i am.
and that's good enough :D :D :D :D YZ thinks my lisp is cute. even though i hate it.

so yea. that's also why i'm so immune to people saying mean things about me, cos i'm used to it and it doesnt bother me anymore.
