Universal Studios Singapore Hollywood After Party!

sponsored advertorial

My weekends have been pretty dull of late, and I thought it was time to spice things up a little!! So when I heard about Hollywood After Party that's happening at Universal Studios Singapore (USS), I was all revved to go!!!

I absolutely looooove USS and I've visited it twice so far, but only in the daytime! Never knew that there were such exciting night activities happening at USS as well, and Hollywood After Party is one of them :D

If you're looking for some place different to chill out, with live music, free-flow booze and awesome atmosphere, you've got to check out Hollywood After Party, which is happening every weekend at USS from the 3 November 2012 - 5 January 2013!

It's really cool: for only $33 nett, you get to enjoy free-flow beer and house pour! (Or if you're not much of a drinker, but want to be there to soak up some great vibes, it costs $20 for entry, inclusive of a drink!) Seriously, where else can you find sucha good deal like this??

To me however the best part of all has got to be the awesome live music that's happening at Hollywood After Party every weekend, with amazing bands such as BeatRoots, Goodfellas and Enigma all lined up!

Mobilised the girlfriends and sissy for a girls' night out, and OFF WE WENT for Hollywood After Party! :D
I headed down with sissy Gina, and we took the monorail from VivoCity to USS! Love the monorail, super convenient! Teehee, we were mad excited cos it would be our first time in USS at night. Wheeee!
Random shot on the train!! Testing my new camera heh.
We reached USS really quickly, and just seeing the giant Universal Studios globe made me feel all excited already! :D It was looking spectacular, even in the dark!

Two eggcited sisters. Afer Gina instagrammed a picture, our youngest sister commented straight away and said "HOW COME BO JIO" hahahahaha.

We walked into Hollywood Boulevard, and it looks completely different at night!!! The streets were all lit up with signboards and decorative lights and it felt really surreal, like I wasn't even in a part of Singapore any more!

Know what I mean?

Evonne arrived next, and we headed into the souvenir shop along Hollywood Boulevard to do some shopping! :D OH YES. Can you believe this is Evonne's first time at USS? TSK!

These awards are TOO CUTE! Hahaha.
Gina bought a little something for her friend, and we went back out to the streets to carry on soaking in the atmosphere!!

And guess whattttttttt!!!

FIREWORKS!!!!!!

Yup, there was a fireworks display and it was soooooooo breath-taking! I love fireworks! Didn't manage to get good shots of them, but they were incredible! *_*

There's a stage set-up at the end of Hollywood Boulevard, and there was an MC who was keeping everyone entertained with his funny jokes and games!
Look at the crowd!
I went for my first drink of the night! Had the Free Flow Drinks pass, so I could drink as much as I fancied! Heh. Cranberry Vodka for me please!
Having a seat along the boulevard and resting our legs!
Gina looks happy with her Cranberry Vodka too! :D

There's also other entertainment acts, like this couple of reaaally tall costumed masqueraders on stilts that appeared out of nowhere!
One of them started giving out necklaces made from plastic beads and everyone made a mad rush for it! O_O Hehehe.

And finally! Our last member of the party, Jayne, arrived!! Whoop whoop!

By the way, food coupons are available for purchase as well, and the food selection includes lots of light bites and party snacks such as chicken hot dogs, nachos, pizza, spring rolls and satay etc! Great for those who're feeling a little peckish and looking for something to munch on in between drinks!

We were pretty hungry, so we headed over to Mel's Dine-In instead, which was still open!

My Chilli Beef Hotdog!!! :D

Jayne had a burger, while Evonne and Gina shared some cheese fries!

Super cool retro style dining!

We finished our food just in time to go back out: The live band for the night, Goodfellas, was about to start their second set!

THEY ARE REALLY GOOD!!!!

We took a seat outside Mel's Drive-In, and just enjoyed the fantastic music, whilst sipping on our drinks and chit-chatting! By the way, Goodfellas is a really really popular band, and we were super lucky to be able to catch them at Hollywood After Party!

Went into the bar to get more drinks!

I had this tequila slushie that was reaaaaallly good! :D

Pardon the messy hair. I am not drunk! D: Lol.

And we ended off the night with another round of drinks! Hooray for free flow drinks! Hehe. Great night with greaaat company!!!

If you're planning for a fun day out at USS, you've got to stay on for Hollywood After Party! Cos all-day pass holders will be allowed to stay inside the park to enjoy the event FOR FREE! And you can even upgrade your ticket to enjoy the Free Flow package too! It's an awesome deal and a greaaaat way to spend your entire day from morning to night!

One last thing! For those interested, tickets for Hollywood After Party can be purchased online here, or bought from the Universal Studios Singapore ticket booths or Resorts World Sentosa Ticket and Membership Hub! If you're a RWS Invites member, you can use your points to purchase tickets too!

Thanks for reading, and be sure to check out Hollywood After Party this weekend! :D

Dinner at Taratata Bistrot

Some long over-due photos from dinner a few weeks ago with the favorite girls.. We've been planning for a dinner for the longest longest time (like MONTHS?) and it's sad that everyone's always so busy including myself sigh! Finally managed to fix a date that all of us could make it! YAY.

We settled at Taratata Bistrot for french cuisine after a lengthy discussion, recommended by Woon!

Taratata Bistrot is located along Keong Saik Road, which is within walking distance of Outram Park MRT! New food places are always popping up on Keong Saik Road, I can't even keep track of them fast enough.

We went on a weekday night and the restaurant was fairly quiet, with just about a handful of occupied tables. The interior of the restaurant is furnished pretty simply but nicely, and it was dim and cozy, perfect for a romantic dinner haha but not so ideal for photo-taking :S

Fish and myself!
Aini and Woon ♥

Ordered a whole lot of food to share... the full works from starters, to mains and lastly desserts! Pig-out fest, heheh.
Lobster Bisque $14

The meal started off with an excellent Lobster Bisque that was hearty and full-bodied, it also came in a huge portion that even all four of us couldn't finish off, in part because we ordered too many starters too I suppose?
Dozen Baked Burgundy Escargot in Herbed Garlic Butter $24

One of the stellar dishes of the night and it was super super shiok! Very tasty escargot baked in herbed garlic butter that was absolutely fragrant and delicious. One of the best escargot I've tried in Singapore, definitely, though I am no connoisseur when it comes to French food. The herbed garlic butter was so good I couldn't stop myself from wiping it clean with bread that was served in a complimentary bread board. Definitely a must-try!

Pan-Fried Duck Foie Gras with Caramelized Pear $32

The portion of foie gras served was insanely huuuuuuuge!!! And so decadent I couldn't eat more than a few bites though it was really good. The caramelized pear set off the texture and taste of the foie gras perfectly, and every bite was bursting with rich flavor. Not for the faint-hearted, but the foie gras fans will love this!

Duck Confit with White Bean Ragout $29

When I think of French food, the first dish that comes to mind is Duck Confit! This one was good, but the creaminess of the white bean ragout got to me after awhile. The duck was slightly on the dry side, but still tasty nevertheless!

Steamed Mussels with White Wine Sauces served with French Fries $34

Glad we ordered this instead of another meat, because everything else was so heavy on the palate that the taste of these sweet, chewy mussels were a delight! The white wine sauce was very savoury and surprisingly enough, the french fries were damn good! Crispy and fluffy.

Quail Stuffed Foie Gras and Braised Cabbage with Wild Mushrooms $33

This was nice (tasted like chicken haha) but I couldn't really taste much of the foie gras! The inside seems to be stuffed with minced quail meat and chestnuts, which added a tinge of sweetness to the quail. Mushrooms are always my thing so I cleaned out the mushrooms on this dish. Noms.

Moved on to desserts thereafter, and to our surprise, the cake that we ordered came with a lit up candle, as the staff had asked earlier on if we were celebrating anyone's birthday! Very commendable service, really.

The staff also very kindly obliged us in taking a group shot for us as well!

Pear and Chocolate Layer Cake with Pear Sorbet $15

I thought that this was quite nice, but nothing to rave about. Maybe I would have liked it with more chocolate, as the chocolate portion of the cake was somewhat underwhelming!

Grand Marnier Souffle $20

This was recommended by the staff as one of their signature desserts! The souffle itself was fluffy and airy, but the taste of alcohol (especially towards the bottom) was a tad strong for me. So I would probably skip this the next time!

In all, we enjoyed our dinner at Taratata Bistrot and left with extremely satisfied and filled tummies! The excellent service from the attentive staff also made the dining experience a pleasant one! So glad we finally made time for this dinner, I enjoyed the wonderful night with the girlfriends and can't wait for our Christmas meet-up. ♥ Yayyyy!

Event: Estee Lauder Flagship Boutique Launch at Tangs Orchard

Estée Lauder's new flagship boutique has just opened at the newly revamped Tangs Beauty Hall, and we were treated to a night of opulence and glamour at the grand opening of the boutique.
Evonne and myself walking the blue carpet!
The evening started with a surreal experience, I got to live the life of a celebrity for a few short seconds, with a glamorous waltz on my first "blue carpet" ever!

As part of the event, a blue carpet was set up with a dozen photographers, and we got a taste of how scary paparazzi felt like as we courageously braved the short but intimidating walk through a flood of flashing light bulbs. It was really an unnerving experience!

The new Estée Lauder Flagship Boutique is now bigger and better than ever, and now features different spaces, such as a Global Best Sellers Wall, a 360 Degree Bar and a Skincare Discovery Bar. The space looks absolutely lush and very pleasing to the eye, housing everything from skincare, to makeup and also fragrances. The newly launched Very Estée fragrance will also be exclusively available at Estée Lauder Flagship Boutique too.

Side tangent, I thought I'd introduce my absolute favourite product from Estee Lauder: The highly raved Advanced Night Repair that I use every night!

Good-looking male models at events are always appreciated. Bwahahaha.

A group shot with some of the beauty bloggers who were present! :)

Even managed to get a shot with the handsome Bobby Tonelli!
My spacesuit dress from H&M that I think was attracting a lot of stares when I walked my way from Orchard MRT to Tangs Plaza. Hahaha.

Estée Lauder Flagship Boutique is located on the 1st level of TANGS Beauty Hall, near the entrance closest to Lucky Plaza.

Thank you for extending the invitation to us, Estée Lauder and Brand Story!

Review: Kate Cosmetics Fall/Winter 2012

I've been a user of KATE Cosmetics for a long time, and I remember my first foray into the world of liquid eyeliners: The very first liquid eyeliner I ever purchased was actually KATE's Super Sharp Liner!

KATE Cosmetics has sent me some products from their Fall/Winter 2012 collection, and I gotta say, I am loving so many of them!

KATE Powderless Liquid Foundation, SGD34

The most important step in achieving a flawless look with makeup has got to be the foundation. KATE's Powderless Liquid Foundation is named as such due to how the liquid foundation actually turns into a matte powdery finish after 15 seconds, giving you an instantly smooth, shine-free complexion!

As you can see, the liquid spreads easily and blends well into a matte powder finish! Perfect for the lazy girls like me, because it saves the extra hassle of having to set liquid foundation with loose powder! :) Kate Powderless Liquid Foundation also comes in six shades, so you'll be able to find a match closest to your skin tone :)

KATE Deep Shiny Eyes, SGD23.50

One of the star products of the collection, in my opinon! I really love the KATE Deep Shiny Eyes eyeshadow palette! Each palette comes with three complementary shades which can be used together to achieve a lovely shimmery smokey eye look that's perfect for year-end festivities :)

The eyeshadow is extremely pigmented, and if you love shimmery and frosty eyeshadows like I do, you'd definitely love the KATE Deep Shiny Eyes.
Visual from KATE on how to apply the eyeshadow

KATE Slim Create Powder, SGD27

Another product that I am loving to bits from the collection, and have been using on a regular basis! KATE Slim Create Powder is an extremely handy contouring powder that contains a white powder (for highlighting) and a brown powder (for shading)!

A visual within the compact itself shows you where to use the highlighting powder and where to use the shading powder! The compact comes with its own brush as well that I find quite easy to use, especially when contouring the nose/eye areas. Very convenient for carrying around for quick makeup on-the-go!

As you can tell, the shading powder is so subtle, it hardly shows up on my skin! (Or maybe I am just too tan...) But trust me, it really makes a huge difference and can be seen in photos and in real life for sure :)

KATE Super Sharp Liner, SGD17

Last but not least, the KATE Super Sharp Liner, in a limited edition Night Red color! This eyeliner boosts to be the thinnest and sharpest on the Japanese market, at an incredibly thin 0.03mm! The Night Red shade is actually surprisingly wearable, and looks almost black, but less stark. As with my previous experience with KATE's Super Sharp Liners, it's very easy to control and use, even for beginners.

Here's how the eyeliner looks when swatched.

I used the above products to come up with a glam look which I think is suitable for parties and year-end festivities! :D Of course, I think the most important products for this look would be the eye shadow palette, followed by the contouring powder :D :D :D

Loving the final look created with KATE Cosmetics Fall/Winter 2012 collection!

For more pictures/swatches/reviews of KATE's Fall/Winter 2012 collection, do check out Evonne and Jayne's entries, I love how the products look on them!

Have a fabulous weekend everyone, and I'll be back with more updates real soon!
