Honey by Marc Jacobs: Fav Scent of the Month!

Honey by Marc Jacobs is undeniably one of my favourite fragrances to hit our shores this season, and I'm sure it's not hard for anyone to understand the appeal of this gorgeous fragrance, starting from the beautifully whimsical bottle design, down to the wonderfully fresh and sunny fragrance!!

Like I've mentioned several times before, I never used to be a fan of perfumes and fragrances. These days though, it's a different story, thanks to all the opportunities to explore so many different scents! I've come to find what I really like, and Honey by Marc Jacobs really tops the list!

I don't like strong and overpowering scents, so Honey by Marc Jacobs is my perfect daytime scent, and I love how it smells, it's fresh, light, and sweet with a touch of sunny citrus!

I was introduced to Honey by Marc Jacobs at a launch event when we got to hear from a couple of professional perfumers, as well as create our own versions of Honey by Marc Jacobs, using the different base notes to concoct our very own fragrance!

It was super interesting, and all of us were busy bees at work, sniffing away at the different notes, and carefully putting them together! Reminded me of chemistry lab but ten times the fun! :D

After a lot of experimentation as well as help from the experienced perfumers, I was finally satisfied with the fragrance I created for myself! Whoop whoop! Honey by Yina Goh hohoho.

I love my own personalised scent so much I've been spritzing it on daily! :P

Here are the notes of Honey by Marc Jacobs:

Top: Pear, Fruit Punch, Juicy Mandarin
Heart: Orange Blossom, Peach Nectar, Honeysuckle
Base: Honey, Golden Vanilla, Smooth Woods

I can literally smell honey when I use Honey by Marc Jacobs and I LOVE the intoxicating and sweet, rich scent! It's also balanced out by light fruity notes, so it's not heavy at all. I'm bad at descriptive vocabulary so you really need to take a whiff of this scent for yourself! ;)

Unfortunately though, I find that the lasting power of Honey by Marc Jacobs is at best 3-4 hours, because all the notes are so light that they dissipate quite fast! Thinking of decanting this into a smaller bottle or vial to bring around because the bottle looks so delicate and pretty I wouldnt want to accidentally break it. However, Tricia says that she's been carrying the entire bottle around and it's very sturdy!

I am really in love with the whimsical bottle design! Always thought that polkadots and stripes would look terrible together but the bottle looks lovely! Elegantly adorable.

Honey by Marc Jacobs will be available in Singapore 19th Sep 2013 (TODAY!!!), to pick it up from Sephora, or Marc and Marc Jacobs boutiques. (It will be available at most major department stores from October.) 

Honey comes in 30, 50, 100ml bottles. (Only the 50ml and 100ml bottles have the large winged pearl on the side of the glass. The 30ml bottle only has it on the cap.) 

There is also a shower gel (150ml) and body lotion (80ml), if you like to layer your scents for longer lasting power!

Instavideo of the amazing set-up for our vintage tea party picnic shoot yesterday! You have to check out the props specially sourced by MerryLove, the girls did a stupendous job with the conceptualising and set! All of us were just blown away by the beautiful props and set-up. Feeling so glad again that these girls are doing my wedding styling, I can't wait! :D

Review: Valentina Acqua Floreale EDT

Fragrances.

Growing up as a tomboy, I never had much use for smelling all flowery and sweet. Perfumes were something I looked upon with distaste and mild horror, because I never understood the appeal of smelling like a bed of roses, and this opinion was further enforced whenever a heavily perfumed woman walked past me on the streets, leaving behind a hideously lingering scent of overpowering perfume. Eeks!

Of course, when I got older and got enticed into the glamorous grown-up world of beauty and cosmetics, fragrances became something I learnt to appreciate more and more, and now, spritzing my favourite scent on has become a ritual that completes my beauty routine ;) That being said, I prefer to stick to my lighter and fresher scents, rather than risk sensory overload by smelling like an entire florist shop!


Valentino's latest fragrance: The Valentina Acqua Floreale was launched recently in Singapore, and I attended the launch event together with Evonne!

With the launch of the new Valentina Acqua Floreale, there are now three signature scents under Valentino.

The GWP (gift with purchase) that's really adorable. The miniature bottle is so quaint, and the leather pouch looks like it's of really good quality too! I like miniature-sized products, perfect for packing into the luggage for travel, and simply too cute! :)

At the event, we had fun with a quiz that decided for us which fragrance we were most suitable for, depending on our personality and preferences. I like fresh and light scents, so the new Valentina Acqua Floreale was the one that was singled out for me!

What I like about the fragrance is the way it starts off light and fresh, but still has an underlying musk that gives it a sophisticated and sensual quality! I also like the sleek glass bottle with its exquisite nozzle design. So pretty!

We had lots of fun with customising our own iPhone cases at the event: Definitely one of the funnest things I've done at a event in a long time! :DDD And I've received so many compliments on my casing too, hehe. Thanks to the team who prepared all the materials for us to play around with!

We were given a little lesson in sewing and trying our hand at making our very own stuffed heart key ring, and the kind folks from Mother and Child Project™ patiently guided us through this challenging procedure (Lol.. when was the last time you actually sewed something other than a button?)

I did put in my best effort, and thought that my little blue heart came out pretty decent! What do you think?

The event was held at Parco Caffe, which is a lovely restaurant/cafe that's subtly garden-themed with a very nice indoor alfresco area, where we were seated.

The canapes that we had were really tasty, and I think I ate quite a fair bit! :X Heard that the brunch served on weekends at Parco Caffe is to die for, and I may go back for another visit, if I have a means of transport because this place (Raeburn Park) is one ulu land. Hahaha.

Event/Review: Elizabeth Arden Red Door Aura + Beautiful Color Eye Shadow Singles

The Red Door Aura has very much the same essence of the sensual Red Door fragrance, but reincarnated to become youthful and modern with the playful citrusy scents of Raspberry and Orange blossom, in harmony with the Bergamot Lily and Jasmine Petals, and ending in a lightly sensual musk of Creamy Amber and Sandalwood.

So so so so happy about it!!! :D Though actually, I suddenly feel very strange because all these white expanse of teeth is showing, instead of bits of metal, hahaha. It took almost exactly one year and I am still not used to the naked straight white teeth now.. Haha!

好久不见。。^.^ Will blog about the braces journey and maybe before and after photos when I have time!! Though it's not over yet, the retainers will come in next week and I will have to be on retainers forever! Meanwhile, I shall savour the brand new freedom of my teeth and SMILEEEEEE!!!!!

L'occitane Pivoine Delicate Collection!

one of the perks of blogging.. it's so cool when you get to work with your favorite brands!! sort of like meeting your idol like that. hahaha! *fangirl mode on* and when it comes to hand and body products, i am sure most of the girls, like me, swear by L'occitane's products because they are really really good!

when L'occitane (it's pronounced LOX-EE-TAN if you didn't know!) invited me to an exclusive bloggers' party to showcase their latest collection, i was delighted! :D along with Valerie, Juliet and Patricia, I was introduced to L'occitane's latest Pivoine Delicate collection, which is a range of body products inspired by the lovely Peony flower and containing peony extract especially procured from Drôme!

the event was held at Fullhouse Cafe (which if you noticed, is also the very same place we did our shoot at for the upcoming collection!) it's quite a new cafe/restaurant, with themed interior deco that's really lovely!

i have to say, the flowery but fresh scent of the Pivoine Delicate Eau De Toilette (S$78) really grows on me! i'm not one for heavy perfumes that make you smell like an entire garden, and i like the lightly scented fragrance of the Pivoine Delicate Eau De Toilette as it has just the right balance of floral notes complemented by the sandal wood and citrusy notes!

the Shimmering Powder (S$56) is gorgeous enough with its unique packaging, and though i couldn't get a good swatch of the shimmer powder when applied, it's really sparkly and pretty without being too over the top! be careful with the pump though, the first time i pressed it really hard, and this whole explosion of shimmering powder came out. haha!

do pop over to a L'occitane store soon to check out the other products, i absolutely love the Pivoine Delicate Hand Cream (S$32) in the same collection as well that has the same gorgeous fragrance and feels really good on the hands! another interesting product i'd be sure to get my hands on is the Pivoine Delicate Eau de Toilette & Gloss Duo (S$39), a carry-around 2-in-1 compact that combines the lip gloss and Eau de Toilette into one super portable and convenient product that'd be perfect for slipping into your tote for touch-ups!

a FotD for the day of the event, i wore the Pixie Eyelet Frock in Pure White from TheVelvetDolls and matched it with a pastel pink blazer i got from Megagamie last year, since the theme was PINK :D

i went with a very natural look for my makeup, false eyelashes that look like they are barely there and contouring on the brows and nose to bring out my features better ^^ oh and i have got a really good hair product that's i've been using when blow-drying my hair to get it to curl in nicely at the ends! i will share on that next entry! :)

ohhh some long over due pictures from dinner with my favorite Cherri a couple weeks ago! :D Cherri popped over to office to get some stuff, so we went to pig out at Wan Tou Sek, and ordered soooo much we could barely finish. next time i'm never gonna give in to Cherri's orders again. want to order so much then halfway through complain that she's full already! my top picks are the chee cheong fun, glutinous rice and 纸包鸡!!! so yummy! the 流沙包 is so MEH, it's just custard with no salted egg yolk :(

and yup that's the Lace Overlay Tank in Cream from TheVelvetDolls! i wear a size M :D love it so much! Endlessly versatile and can be worn in so many styles, casual/dressy/corporate!

oh yes, someone asked for an instagram of the Garden of Eden Floral Blazer in White, so here it is! :) it comes in S, M & L, and i wear a size M! :)

i totally couldn't decide between the two colors at all.. and ended up keeping both! :X well, the prints/colours are totally different, so it's forgivable! :P plus, blazers can be worn in so many different ways too! the lace dress paired with the blazer is also an upcoming piece! ^^

just came back from a jog (i woke up at 6.30AM to jog!!!) and i'm hoping to change my lifestyle a little for a healthier me :( ugh, i wonder why all my "health initiatives" never seem to last. so this time round, it starts again! meaning to say, cutting down on my junk food and getting more exercise into my schedule! waking up early is good for me too, so that i can start the day early and get more work done, and try to sleep earlier :X
