TheVelvetDolls at KissJane CityLink!

i've already shared the good news on Facebook and Twitter.. and i hope it's as good news for our customers and friends as it is for us, cos i'm so egg cited about it: TheVelvetDolls now has a retail space at KissJane, CityLink and we are officially in business starting from today!!! :D

KissJane is not a foreign name to the regular shoppers, i'm sure, they house all the top brands of the local online apparel industry and we're now under the same roof as some of our other friendly brands such as LittleRedHeels, LilyPirates, MomoTeapots and etc!

we went down last night to hang up our stocks for the very first time, four huge bags of stocks all up for display at our huge rack! teehee.

i am so loving how the logo looks on the sign board, it's acrylic cut out and looks so so so nice!!! *proud of myself*

took quite awhile to hang up and arrange all the stocks nicely, there are almost one hundred different designs, including different colors and sizes stocked in at the rack! :)

at least 80% of the items stocked in are all under our own manufactured label, spot our dolls on the clothing labels!

feels really really gratifying to see an entire rack filled with gorgeous apparel under your own label.. :D it feels like we've come a long way from when TheVelvetDolls was just started up, and all we had to our name was a .livejournal domain and a logo made with love.

how did TheVelvetDolls start up? Gina and i both left our jobs and had too much time on our hands, HAHAHA. i initially was only helping out with designing the website, the logo, as well as helping to model, but along the way (1 or 2 months later actually) Gina found herself a full time job, and i found myself heading the operations and working on TVD full time, and it has been one and a half years since Feb 2010, when TVD was started.

now we have our own range of manufactured apparel, much loved and loyal customers, physical signages and retail space, even our own little tiny and crowded office, teehee. the feeling is indescribable :) we've worked so hard for it, and seeing the fruits of our labour and love... it feels like you want to laugh and cry at the same time. all thanks to so many so many people who's showered us with love. our hardworking suppliers, our gorgeous models, our tireless staff, our loyal and supportive customers, our fellow blogshop owner support group HAHAHA. wah i writing speech like machiam winning award like that! but i think.. we are so blessed, every single day.

it's just a small thing. our second retail rack :P but i promise it will be the first of many more big things to come, cos we'll keep on working at it :)

may TVD prosper long long and huat many many!!!!!

enough of reminisces and weepy talk, my outfit of the day to share! a simple little dress perfect for casual dates. has a paper bag skirt effect with contrast waist, and two huge pockets which makes it look fun and playful!

paired with suede fringe bag and simple accessories :) the dress comes in sizes S & M, and four colors! still deciding if we should launch it next XP

and the perfect shoes to go along with it, my new rainbow wedges from Manila, i am so so so in love with the wedges cos they're so happy and colorful and comfy all at the same time, i hope i don't spoil them too soon from over usage cos that would make me really really sad!! :'(

love love. it's a super thick and stretchy fabric that requires minimal ironing, and feels really good quality! :P

i'm still suffering from post holiday syndrome, and there's so much to catch up on at work and on the blog! stay with me and be patient cos i will be back in full force! :P

meanwhile, treasure and savor what's left of the weekend, spend more time with your family and your loved ones, and stay happy! life's worth living when you keep yourself surrounded with love and happiness.

random OTDs

just a short entry.
i'm leaving Singapore on Monday and am absolutely swarmed with work, rehearsals and last minute preparations for the two weeks away! :( only left office at like 4am the day before because there's so many things to do. i also dont know why!! i'll be away from the 23rd May to 7th June, no idea if there's any internet over there but i'll bring along my netbook anyway.

will also try to prepare a collection or two in advance if possible so Gina and our helper can still keep things going while i'm not around! please be nice okay cos some stuff that are mostly handled by me might not be addressed until i'm back (etc. when which backorders are arriving and all that) also, previews might be updated on our Facebook page instead.

so we had one last shoot with our dear Clara, who's going to start work soon, and we might not see so much of her on TVD in future! she's a really awesome person who's always very funny to shoot. wahaha. because i'm nice i won't share her unglam pictures!


alot of people commented that we look alike! HAHA. ok fine so Clara is much prettier. must be the same smile or something!

today's agenda is to verify payments now, pack and mail all paid orders from S59 so that customers can get them asap! followed by rehearsal tonight, and tomorrow as well. 3 more days before flying and i havent packed a single thing! D: D: the weather is a nice 15-20 deg so yayy to layering. i've been going mad shopping for shoes/stuff to layer over there. HAHA :D we're going to be competing in Sopot for the first week, and travelling to Krakaw and Warsaw after that! wooots excites!

anyway, i was up at 5.40AM because Gina's incessant iphone alarm wouldn't stop ringing.

so i figured since i'm up so early, i might as well stay awake til 8AM (which is now!!!) and then head over to vote.

today's the big election day and i'm not gonna talk politics on my blog (because honestly it's a topic that only comes up once every 5 years and although some fellow singaporeans show avid interest in it, i think it's really just a trend.) but i'm quite in a dilemma because i'm in the highly contested Aljunied GRC (even though i live nowhere near Aljunied WTF) so it's really hard for me to base my vote on my own experiences, as seeing how i used to be in Marine Parade GRC and then ever since i moved to my current house i don't think i've ever seen an MP in the estate, ever.

and they didn't even bribe me with enough money because i checked my bank account and it seems like everyone else got their $600, and those other friends staying in landed estates got $300. HOW COME I GOT ONLY $100 WTF? the code for the transaction is GD right? (since i didn't see any other amount being transacted to my bank account) maybe i didn't file my income tax that's why.

whatever it is.

moving on, i haven't blogged any food pictures in awhile,

partially because my latest food haunts are hawker centres and food courts and kopitiams.

i love Newton Food Centre's beef soup and rojak! or Bedok 511's ba chor mee.

or like.. Punggol nasi lemak.

but yes, not very exciting reads :(

it was Labour Day and YZ thought he'd bring me to the dim sum restaurant his friend's been raving about, but apparently, every other family in town must have had similar ideas, because it was packed full of people like sardines wtf!

we had to queue for like 30-45 minutes just to get a table.

the food is generally good, but i think it's a little overrated. tasted like above average dimsum to me, with some dishes that were more outstanding in particular. i love the egg tarts and siew mai! those were good. some other dishes like har gao and pork ribs were so so. but i believe the older generation like the restaurant for its ambience and tradition. it's hard to find trolley pushing waitresses dishing out plates and baskets of piping hot dimsum in Singapore nowadays :)

chee cheong fan was good! soft and melt in the mouth.

didn't really like the char siew sou. too much pastry for my liking and the char siew was average.

we ended up with a bill of $60 ish.

hmmm.. not a place i would visit often. i still prefer Victor's Kitchen over at Sunshine Plaza :D

going to share some pictures from the Biotherm bloggers' dinner i attended together with JY!
it was held at Merry Men at Robertson Quay, JY and i spent the better part of 30 minutes trying to locate the place and we were sooo late :((( smart us also parked REALLY far away lor, and we ended up walking from one end of the quay to the other -.-

it was a cozy little dinner and we enjoyed it alot! :)
pity we didn't get to talk to the other girls much because we were seated at a long table and it was pretty hard to converse with the girls at the other side!

they were part of a set up the Biotherm ladies had put up to introduce the star product of the day, Biotherm's newly launched Aquasource series!

Jazlyn, who did a very comprehensive introduction of Biotherm, as well as sharing with us alot about the brand new Aquasource Deep Hydration Moisturiser! the Biotherm girls tell us they all swear by it now! i've just started using it! will do a proper review of it after a week! :)

it comes in two formulas, one is ultra hydrating (for dry skin) and the other one is for combi/oily skin. i'm using the green one for combi skin!

JY and i while nomming on our dinner! food there was pretty good! we both are supposed to be on a no-carbs diet. it isn't working out very well for me unfortunately everyone keeps on jio-ing me out for meals that inevitably include carbs ):

good thing all the portions were bite-sized if not i'd have stuffed myself :X

blue cheese burgers! the patties were yummeh and juicy!

ended off with pana cotta :D sinful but oh-so-good.

and they put in super duper adorable sunnies in our goodie bags! LOL. perfect for camwhoring.
